Ingredients
- 1 (15.25-ounce) package yellow cake mix plus the ingredients called for on the package
- 3 cups tart apples peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup walnuts chopped
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup heavy cream
- whipped cream optional, to taste, for serving
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Prepare the cake batter according to the package directions.
- In a bowl, add the apples, the walnuts, the sugar, and the cinnamon and mix to combine.
- Spoon the apple mixture over the batter.
- Pour the heavy cream over the top of the batter. Do not stir.
- Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour-1 hour 10 minutes.
- Serve topped with the whipped cream.
