Ingredients

  • 1 (1-pound) flank steak fat trimmed
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons Shaoxing wine or dry sherry
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger minced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 head broccoli cut into small florets
  • white rice to taste, cooked and warm, for serving

Directions

  • Place the steak on a plate and chill it in the freezer, about 20 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, add the soy sauce, the cornstarch, the garlic, the Shaoxing wine, the honey, the ginger, the sesame oil, the red pepper, the siracha sauce, and the beef broth and mix until it is well-combined.
  • Transfer the chilled steak to a cutting board and cut it into very thin slices.
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil.
  • Add the beef slices to the heated oil and sear until they just start to brown.
  • Add the soy sauce mixture and the broccoli florets to the seared beef slices and cook, while stirring, until the florets are tender and the beef mixture is coated in the sauce, about 2 minutes.
  • Serve the beef mixture over the rice.
