Ingredients

  • 12 ounces French bread a day old
  • 2 Granny Smith apples peeled
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup for topping, or to taste
  • powdered sugar for topping, to taste
  • whipped cream for topping, to taste

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Grease a 9x13-inch greased baking tray
  • Slice the bread into 1-inch cubes, then dice and peel the apples into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine the apples, bread, cornstarch, and sugar.
  • Using a separate bowl, whisk the milk, vanilla, eggs, and cinnamon together. Then, pour the egg mixture into the bread bowl.
  • Stir up the ingredients well, then pour into the prepared tray.
  • Bake until golden brown, for 45 minutes.
  • Serve topped with the maple syrup, powdered sugar, and whipped cream!
