Ingredients

For the chicken seasoning:

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

For the chicken:

  • 4 chicken breasts boneless and skinless
  • 12 slices bacon preferably streaky
  • 1 cup barbeque sauce
  • 1 cup cheese of your choice, plus more as needed to cover the chicken, grated
  • fresh chives optional, finely diced, for garnish

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl, combine the paprika, the garlic powder, the salt, the black pepper, and the cayenne pepper.
  • Evenly sprinkle the chicken breasts with the chicken seasoning on all sides.
  • Wrap each breast of the chicken with 3 slices of the bacon.
  • Place the bacon-wrapped chicken into a large cast iron skillet or baking dish.
  • Bake until the chicken is piping hot and cooked through at 165 degrees F, about 35 minutes.
  • Turn the oven to broil.
  • Generously spoon the barbeque sauce over the chicken, then cover the chicken with the cheese.
  • Broil until the cheese melts, about 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with the chives and serve.
