Ingredients
- 2 (42-ounce) cans pie filling flavor of your choice
- 1 (15.25-ounce) box yellow or white cake mix
- 2 sticks unsalted butter cold
- vanilla ice cream optional, to taste, for topping
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- Add the pie filling to the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the pie filling, making sure the pie filling is completely covered. Do not stir.
- Cut the cold butter into very thin slices.
- Place the butter slices evenly over the cake mix layer, trying to cover most of the surface of the cake mix layer. Do not stir.
- Bake until the top is golden-brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges, about 45-50 minutes.
- Serve warm topped with the ice cream.
