Get out of the drive-thru lane! Go home, rest, relax, and make up the same delicious flavors with the Big Mac™ Tot Casserole! The tender, savory beef, the melty cheese, the pickles, the onions... it even has the sesame seeds! The jingle is almost complete! Now it just needs that creamy, zesty, umami, and sweet sauce that makes Big Mac Tot Casserole so special. Oh wait, it does have that! This may not be as quick as fast food, but it certainly is as tasty and definitely more wholesome!
Ingredients
- For the sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons French dressing
- 4 teaspoons sweet pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon white onion, grated
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- For the casserole:
- 1 pound hamburger
- 1 medium white onion, diced
- 6 slices American cheese, plus more to taste, for topping
- 2-3 cups frozen tater tots
- sesame seeds, to taste
- lettuce, shredded, to taste
- dill pickles, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2 -In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, the French dressing, the relish, 1 tablespoon of the onion, the white vinegar, the sugar, and the salt. Set aside.
Step 3 -In a large skillet, cook the hamburger and the remaining white onion until the meat is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the excess grease.
Step 4 -Add 1/2 of the sauce to the hamburger mixture and stir to combine.
Step 5 -Spread the hamburger mixture in the bottom of a 9x9-inch baking dish.
Step 6 -Place the cheese slices on top of the hamburger mixture and then top with the tater tots.
Step 7 -Sprinkle the tater tots with the sesame seeds. Top with more of the cheese slices, if desired.
Step 8 -Bake until the tater tots are golden, about 35-40 minutes.
Step 9 -Serve the casserole with the remaining sauce, the lettuce, and the pickles.
