Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups cake flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/4 cups sour cream room temperature
- 1/3 cup milk room temperature
- 1/4 cup butter softened
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs room temperature
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 3/4 cup sprinkles plus more, to taste, for garnish
- prepared icing of your choice, to taste
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a bowl, sift the cake flour, the baking powder, the baking soda, and the salt.
- In another bowl, whisk the sour cream and the milk together.
- Using an electric mixer with the paddle attachment, cream the butter and the sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, 1 at a time, to the sugar mixture, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and the almond extract and mix again.
- Alternately add the dry ingredient mixture and the milk mixture into the egg mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredient mixture.
- Fold the sprinkles into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 25-30 minutes.
- Allow the cake to cool and then evenly spread the icing all over.
- Garnish with more of the sprinkles, as desired.
- Slice and serve.
