Ingredients
- 1 large egg lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce plus more, to taste, for serving
- 1/4 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1 1/2 cups part-skim mozzarella cheese shredded
- basil leaves optional, to taste, for serving
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Mix the egg, 1/2 cup of the pizza sauce, the breadcrumbs, and the Italian seasoning in a large bowl.
- Add the beef, and mix lightly but thoroughly.
- Divide the mixture into 12 portions, then press each portion onto the bottom and up sides of a greased muffin cup.
- Add the cheese to the centers of the meat cups.
- Bake until the meat is cooked through, about 15-18 minutes.
- Top them with the extra pizza sauce and the basil, and serve.
