Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar optionally plus more for sprinkling
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • sea salt to taste
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks or chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Prepare a cookie sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  • Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Add the cream and stir just until a dough starts to form.
  • Knead the dough briefly with floured hands until just combined.
  • Shape the dough into a flat disk with your hands.
  • Cut the dough into 8 wedges and place the wedges on the cookie sheet.
  • Lightly brush the tops of the wedges with the melted butter and sprinkle with more sugar.
  • Bake until the scones are a deep golden color, about 18-20 minutes.
