Ingredients
- 8 strips bacon
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons pepper
- 4 slices American cheese
- 2 hamburger buns
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
Optional toppings:
- lettuce to taste, chopped
- tomato to taste, chopped
- onions to taste chopped,
- pickles to taste, chopped
- mustard to taste
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Cook the bacon on a sheet tray for 10 minutes.
- Form 4 equal patties from the ground beef.
- Season both sides of the patties with the garlic powder, the salt, and the pepper.
- Over high heat in a skillet, cook the patties on both sides until cooked to desired doneness, starting at 135 degrees F for medium-rare, about 2 minutes per side.
- Before removing from the pan, add one slice of the cheese to each of the patties.
- Build each burger by placing 1 patty on the bottom of one of the buns.
- Add 2 pieces of the bacon to the burger.
- Place another patty on top of the bacon layer, followed by another layer of the bacon.
- Add a tablespoon of the ketchup and the mayonnaise, along with any other desired toppings, to the burger.
- Repeat with the second burger.
- Serve.
