Ingredients

  • 8 strips bacon
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons pepper
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 2 hamburger buns
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise

Optional toppings:

  • lettuce to taste, chopped
  • tomato to taste, chopped
  • onions to taste chopped,
  • pickles to taste, chopped
  • mustard to taste

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Cook the bacon on a sheet tray for 10 minutes.
  • Form 4 equal patties from the ground beef.
  • Season both sides of the patties with the garlic powder, the salt, and the pepper.
  • Over high heat in a skillet, cook the patties on both sides until cooked to desired doneness, starting at 135 degrees F for medium-rare, about 2 minutes per side.
  • Before removing from the pan, add one slice of the cheese to each of the patties.
  • Build each burger by placing 1 patty on the bottom of one of the buns.
  • Add 2 pieces of the bacon to the burger.
  • Place another patty on top of the bacon layer, followed by another layer of the bacon.
  • Add a tablespoon of the ketchup and the mayonnaise, along with any other desired toppings, to the burger.
  • Repeat with the second burger.
  • Serve.
