Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 3/4 pound bulk Italian sausage
- 4 medium onions finely chopped
- 8 cloves garlic minced
- 4 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes undrained
- 4 (6-ounce) cans tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil minced, or 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 tablespoon fresh oregano minced, or 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 4 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon sage rubbed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- spaghetti cooked and hot, to taste
Directions
- In a Dutch oven, cook the ground beef, the sausage, the onion, and the garlic over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink, about 5-8 minutes.
- Drain the fat from the Dutch oven.
- Transfer the mixture to a 5-quart slow cooker.
- Stir in the tomatoes, the tomato paste, the water, the sugar, the Worcestershire sauce, the oil, the parsley, the basil, the oregano, the bay leaves, the sage, the salt, the marjoram, and the pepper.
- Cover and cook on low until all of the flavors meld together, about 8-10 hours.
- Discard the bay leaves.
- Serve with the hot spaghetti.
