Ingredients

  • 6 chicken thighs bone in or out, with or without skin
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 6 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • green onions optional, for serving
  • sesame seeds optional, for serving

Directions

  • Season the chicken with the salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Heat a pan or skillet over medium-high heat on the stove-top.
  • Lightly sear the chicken thighs on both sides until golden and cooked through, registering 165 degrees F in its thickest part, about 6-8 minutes per side. If you are using bone-in thighs, reduce your heat after searing on both sides, cover the skillet with a lid, and flip the chicken every 5 minutes to ensure it is cooked evenly.
  • Drain 3/4 of the excess oil from the pan, leaving the rest to ensure properly moist, and delicious chicken.
  • Arrange the chicken skin-side up in the pan.
  • Place the crushed garlic cloves between the chicken, frying for around 30 seconds.
  • Gently pour in the honey, broth, vinegar, and soy sauce.
  • Increase the heat to medium-high and continue to cook until the sauce reduces and becomes slightly thick, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Garnish the honey garlic chicken with the chopped green onions or sesame seeds.
  • Serve.
