Ingredients
For the donuts:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 6 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon butter melted
For the glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon milk or heavy cream plus more, to taste
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
- Lightly grease a donut pan.
- Mix together the flour, the white sugar, the baking powder, the cinnamon, and the salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Whisk in the buttermilk, the egg, 1/2 teaspoon of the vanilla, and the melted butter.
- Use a spoon to equally distribute the batter into the donut pan.
- Bake the donuts until dough is set and springs back upon touch, about 8-11 minutes. They will not be golden as some other donuts.
- Allow the donuts to cool for 5 to 10 minutes before removing them from the pan.
- Combine the powdered sugar, the remaining vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of the milk. Add the extra milk 1 teaspoon at a time until you reach the desired glaze consistency.
- While the donuts are still warm, dip them into the glaze.
- Serve!
