It really has the good stuff thanks to some morning-famous Jimmy Dean ground sausage, crispy croissants, lots and lots of melty cheese, and a delicious custard-y sauce. Hearty and delicious, Jimmy Dean Croissant Casserole is really where it's at!
Ingredients
- 1 (16-ounce) package Jimmy Dean hot ground pork sausage
- 1 1/4 cups parmesan cheese shredded
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 green onions sliced
- 24 mini croissants torn
- 3 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 5 large eggs lightly beaten
- 2 cups Gruyère cheese shredded
Directions
- Coat a 13x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
- Add the parmesan cheese, the salt, the green onions, and the mini croissant pieces to the sausage and toss to combine.
- Pour the sausage mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- In a bowl, add the milk, the heavy cream, and the eggs and whisk to combine.
- Pour the egg mixture over the sausage mixture.
- Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and chill the casserole in the refrigerator, for at least 8 hours and up to overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Uncover the casserole and evenly sprinkle with the Gruyère cheese.
- Bake the casserole until it is golden, about 45 minutes.
- Transfer the baking dish to a wire rack and let the casserole stand, about 10 minutes.
- Serve.
