Ingredients
- 1/2 cup coconut aminos
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
- 4 cloves garlic peeled and whole
- 1 medjool date pitted, can substitute 2 teaspoons maple syrup
- 1 (1-inch) knob fresh ginger peeled
- 2 teaspoons gochugaru optional
- 1 1/2 pounds steak such as sirloin, rib-eye, strip, or tenderloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil
- sesame seeds optional, to taste, for garnish
- green onions optional, to taste, chopped, for garnish
Directions
- In a blender, add the coconut aminos, the toasted sesame oil, the garlic cloves, the date, the ginger, and the gochugaru.
- Cover the blender and blend the marinade mixture until smooth.
- In a large, resealable plastic bag, add the marinade and the steak pieces and seal the bag.
- Massage the steak pieces in the marinade to coat them.
- Place the bag in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 2 hours and up to overnight.
- Transfer the steak pieces from the marinade and drain them, discarding the excess marinade.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the avocado oil and allow it to heat until it is sizzling.
- Add the marinated steak pieces to the hot oil in a single layer and cook, undisturbed, until seared on one side, about 2 minutes.
- Flip the steak pieces and cook, undisturbed, until they reach an internal temperature of 135 degrees F for a medium-rare doneness, about 2 minutes.
- Serve the steak pieces garnished with the sesame seeds and the green onions.
