Ingredients
- 8 ounces spaghetti uncooked, broken into thirds
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound bulk Italian sausage
- 1 small onion chopped
- 1/4 cup green pepper chopped
- 1 (14-ounce) jar meatless spaghetti sauce
- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1-2 cups part-skim mozzarella cheese shredded
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease a 13x9-inch baking dish.
- In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti to al dente, according to the package directions. Drain the spaghetti and let it cool slightly.
- While the spaghetti cooks, in a large bowl, beat the egg, the milk, and the salt together.
- Add the cooled spaghetti to the egg mixture and toss to coat.
- Pour the spaghetti mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- In a large skillet, cook the beef, the sausage, the onion, and the green pepper over medium heat, while crumbling the meat, until the meat is no longer pink.
- Stir the spaghetti sauce and the tomato sauce into the meat mixture and spoon it over the spaghetti mixture.
- Bake the spaghetti mixture, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
- Sprinkle the spaghetti mixture with the cheese and bake until the cheese has melted, about 10 minutes.
- Let the spaghetti mixture stand for 10 minutes.
- Serve.
