Ingredients

  • 8 ounces spaghetti uncooked, broken into thirds
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup green pepper chopped
  • 1 (14-ounce) jar meatless spaghetti sauce
  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1-2 cups part-skim mozzarella cheese shredded

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Grease a 13x9-inch baking dish.
  • In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti to al dente, according to the package directions. Drain the spaghetti and let it cool slightly.
  • While the spaghetti cooks, in a large bowl, beat the egg, the milk, and the salt together.
  • Add the cooled spaghetti to the egg mixture and toss to coat.
  • Pour the spaghetti mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • In a large skillet, cook the beef, the sausage, the onion, and the green pepper over medium heat, while crumbling the meat, until the meat is no longer pink.
  • Stir the spaghetti sauce and the tomato sauce into the meat mixture and spoon it over the spaghetti mixture.
  • Bake the spaghetti mixture, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the spaghetti mixture with the cheese and bake until the cheese has melted, about 10 minutes.
  • Let the spaghetti mixture stand for 10 minutes.
  • Serve.
