Ingredients
- 1 cup walnuts chopped
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 2 (16.3-ounce) cans refrigerated biscuits
- 1 cup salted butter cut into tablespoons
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Coat a 10-inch fluted tube pan with baking spray.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the walnuts in the bottom of the prepared tube pan.
- In a large, resealable plastic bag, add the white sugar and the cinnamon, seal, and shake to combine.
- Transfer the biscuits from the cans and separate them.
- Cut each of the biscuits into quarters.
- Add about 10 of the biscuit pieces to the cinnamon-sugar in the bag and seal the bag.
- Shake the bag vigorously to coat the biscuit pieces.
- Add the cinnamon-sugar coated biscuit pieces to the prepared tube pan, spreading them out evenly.
- Sprinkle the sugar-coated biscuit layer in the tube pan with about 1/6 of the remaining walnuts.
- Repeat the sugar-coating and layering process with the remaining biscuit pieces and the remaining walnuts.
- In a medium skillet over medium-low heat, melt the butter.
- Add the brown sugar and the vanilla to the melted butter and stir until just combined, about 1 minute. Be careful not to overmix or it will separate.
- Carefully and evenly pour the butter mixture over the layers in the tube pan.
- Gently shake the tube pan back and forth to ensure the butter mixture coats as much of the dough-walnut mixture as possible.
- Bake the bread until it is golden-brown and no longer doughy in the center, about 30-35 minutes.
- Loosen the edges of the pan with a spatula.
- Allow the monkey bread to cool in the pan for 5 minutes.
- Invert the tube pan onto a serving plate and remove the pan.
- Serve.
