About
No need for magic top hats to make Snowman Hot Chocolate! A few marshmallows, some pretzel sticks, and a little dash of creativity come together to create sugary sweet and fluffy snowmen taking a relaxing soak in your hot cocoa! The fact that the hot cocoa is a wonderfully creamy, luscious, and chocolatey brew made on your stovetop makes it all the better! Snowman Hot Chocolate will make you dance around in happiness!
Ingredients
- For the hot chocolate:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup baking cocoa
- salt, to taste
- 1/3 cup hot water
- 4 cups milk
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For the marshmallow snowmen:
- chocolate syrup, to taste
- 12 regular-sized marshmallows, divided
- mini butterscotch chips, to taste, can substitute candy corn
- 16 pretzel sticks, plus more, optional, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -In a saucepan over high heat, add the sugar, the cocoa, the salt, and the water and cook, while stirring, until it comes to a boil.
Step 2 -Cook the cocoa mixture, while stirring, until the sugar and the cocoa are both fully dissolved, about 2 minutes.
Step 3 -Add the milk to the cocoa mixture and stir to combine.
Step 4 -Heat the cocoa mixture until it reaches barely a simmer and reaches the desired serving temperature. Do not boil the cocoa mixture.
Step 5 -Transfer the saucepan from the heat.
Step 6 -Add the vanilla to the cocoa mixture and whisk to combine until frothy.
Step 7 -Using the chocolate syrup, draw eyes and a mouth onto 4 of the marshmallows.
Step 8 -Cut a slit in the middle of the face-decorated marhsmallows between the eyes and the mouth.
Step 9 -Inserted 1 of the butterscotch chips into the slits in the face-decorated marshmallows, creating a "nose."
Step 10 -Cut a slit in the back of the face-decorated marshmallows so the snowman can rest on the rim of the serving mugs easily.
Step 11 -Add 2 dots of the syrup vertically down the center of 4 of the remaining marhsmallows, creating "buttons."
Step 12 -Stick 2 of the pretzel sticks into the sides of each of the button-decorated marshmallows to create "arms."
Step 13 -Press 2 of the remaining pretzel sticks into each of the remaining 4 marshmallows to create "legs."
Step 14 -Add the hot cocoa mixture evenly into four serving mugs.
Step 15 -Place 1 "head" marshmallow, 1 "body" marshmallow, and 1 "legs" marshmallow into each of the serving mugs. Optionally, you can use the extra pretzel sticks to skewer the marshmallows, helping to secure all the components together.
Step 16 -Serve.
