Ingredients

  • 8 ounces good-quality chocolate semi-sweet
  • 12 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Chop the chocolate into chunks.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1/2 of the chocolate in the microwave, heating it in 20-second intervals and stirring between intervals.
  • In a large bowl, mix the butter and sugar using an electric hand mixer until thoroughly combined.
  • Add in the eggs and vanilla and beat until the mixture is fluffy and light, for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Slowly whisk in the melted chocolate, making sure it is not too hot to prevent scrambling the eggs.
  • Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, and fold them into the wet ingredients as gently as possible. Overmixing will ruin the fudgy texture of the brownies.
  • Fold in the unmelted chocolate chunks.
  • Transfer the batter to the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake until the brownies reach your desired level of doneness, about 20-25 minutes.
  • Allow it to cool completely before serving.
