Ingredients
- 4 quarts water
- 1 teaspoon salt divided
- 1 (16-ounce) box elbow macaroni or cavatappi noodles
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 6 ounces cheddar cheese shredded
- 3/4 cup parmesan cheese shredded
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Directions
- In a large pot bring the water to a boil.
- Season the water with 1/2 of the salt.
- Cook the pasta in boiling water according to the package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the cream in a heavy saucepan or cast-iron skillet over medium heat until the cream begins to bubble.
- Add the cheddar, the parmesan cheese, the remaining salt, and the pepper.
- Stir the cheese sauce until bubbly and the cheese has melted, about 5-7 minutes while stirring often.
- Once the noodles are cooked, add the drained pasta to the cheese sauce and stir until combined.
- Serve!
