Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk.
- Knead the dough gently.
- Roll the dough out to 1 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut the rolled dough with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.
- Place the dough rounds on a lightly greased baking sheet.
- Bake until golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.
- Serve.
