Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 (16 ounce) package miniature marshmallows
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 8 cups crispy rice cereal
- flaky sea salt to taste
Directions
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it is golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5 minutes.
- Add the marshmallows to the browned butter.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, until marshmallows are melted, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir the bourbon and the sea salt into the marshmallow mixture.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Add the rice cereal to the marshmallow mixture, mixing until the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Place a sheet of parchment paper over the rice cereal mixture and press the mixture into the dish.
- Remove the parchment paper and sprinkle flaked sea salt over the top.
- Cool the treats to room temperature, at least 30 minutes.
