Ingredients
- 2 sticks unsalted butter plus more, to taste, for serving
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 cups buttermilk
- honey optional, to taste, for serving
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
- In an 8x8 square baking dish, add 2 sticks of the butter.
- Place the baking pan in the oven and allow the butter to melt, about 4-5 minutes. Make sure not to let the butter brown.
- In a bowl, add the flour, the sugar, the baking powder, and the salt and whisk to combine.
- Add the buttermilk to the flour mixture and use a wooden spoon to mix until thoroughly combined into a batter.
- Add the batter to the baking pan, pouring it on top of the melted butter and spreading it out evenly.
- Bake until the bscuits are golden-brown, about 18-20 minutes.
- Serve immediately with the extra butter and the honey.
