Ingredients

1 (15.25-ounce) chocolate fudge cake mix
1 stick salted butter melted
4 eggs divided
1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese softened
5 tablespoons cocoa powder
4 cups confectioners' sugar

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, add the cake mix, the melted butter, 2 of the eggs, and the vanilla extract and using an electric hand mixer on medium-low speed, beat to combine.
Evenly spread the cake batter into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Clean the beaters of the hand mixer.
In a clean large bowl, add the cream cheese, the cocoa powder, and the remaining eggs and using the electric hand mixer on medium-low speed, beat to combine.
Slowly add the confectioners' sugar to the cream cheese mixture and beat to combine.
Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the top of the cake batter in the baking dish.
Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, about 45 minutes.
Transfer the cake from the oven to a wire rack and let it cool.
Using a serrated knife, cut the cake into serving-sized pieces and serve.
