Ingredients

1 (12-ounce) package wide egg noodles
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup yellow onion diced
2 (10.5-ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup sour cream
1/3 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 (12-ounce) can solid white albacore tuna in water drained well
1 cup peas
1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
1 cup potato chips crushed

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
In a large pot of salted, boiling water, add the egg noodles and cook them 2 minutes shy of al dente, according to the package directions.
Drain the egg noodles well.
In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter.
Add the onions to the melted butter and cook, while stirring, until the onions are tender and translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
In a large bowl, add the cream of mushroom soup, the mayonnaise, the sour cream, the milk, the onions, the salt, and the black pepper and mix well to combine.
Add the tuna, the peas, and the cheddar cheese to the soup mixture and mix well but gently to combine.
Add the egg noodles to the tuna mixture and gently fold until well-blended.
Transfer the tuna mixture to the prepared baking dish.
Top the tuna mixture evenly with the crushed potato chips.
Transfer the baking dish to the center rack of the oven and bake until the casserole is completely heated through and the noodles are tender, about 30 minutes.
Serve hot.
