Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar firmly packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon fine salt
- 1 (12-ounce) bag semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
- Position an oven rack in the middle position.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Put the butter in a microwave safe bowl.
- Cover and microwave the bowl on medium power until melted.
- Brush the melted butter on the inside of a 9x13-inch pan, using only as much butter as needed.
- Cool the remaining butter slightly.
- Whisk the remaining cooled butter, the brown sugar, the eggs, and the vanilla in a large bowl until smooth.
- Whisk the flour, the baking soda, and the salt together in another bowl.
- Stir the dry ingredients mixture into the wet ingredients mixture using a spoon or a spatula, making sure not to overmix. The batter should be thick and all of the flour mixture should be fully incorporated.
- Fold the chocolate chips into the batter.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake until the edges are browned and the center is completely set, about 30 minutes.
- Cool the bars completely, about 1 hour.
- Cut the bake into 24 bars and serve.
