Ingredients
- 1 (8-ounce) package egg noodles
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 (7-ounce) cans tomato sauce with mushrooms divided
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup green onions chopped
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese shredded
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
- Add the pasta to the boiling water and cook until al dente according to the package directions; drain.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, while crumbling, with the onion until no pink shows, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the excess grease.
- Mix 1 can of the tomato sauce, the salt, the pepper and the cinnamon into the meat mixture.
- Pour the meat mixture into a shallow 3-quart casserole baking dish.
- Pour the cooked pasta over the meat mixture.
- Top the pasta with the cottage cheese, sprinkle with the green onions and the cheese, and pour the remaining can of the tomato sauce on top.
- Bake, uncovered, until heated through and the cheese is bubbly, about 30 minutes.
- Serve.
