Ingredients
- 1 1/4 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 8 strips bacon cooked and crumbled, divided
- 1 (16-ounce) package potato gnocchi cooked and warm
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
- 1/2 cup tomatoes chopped, for topping
- 2 green onions sliced, for garnish
Directions
- Preheat the oven to the broiler setting.
- In a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat, add the beef and the onions and cook, while crumbling the beef, until the meat is no longer pink, about 4-6 minutes. Drain the excess grease.
- Stir the bacon crumbles into the beef mixture.
- Add the cooked gnocchi, the water, the heavy cream, and the ketchup into the beef mixture and stir to combine.
- Bring the gnocchi mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to medium and cook the gnocchi mixture, while stirring, until the sauce has thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the salt and the pepper to the gnocchi mixture and stir to combine.
- Evenly sprinkle the cheese over the gnocchi mixture.
- Transfer the cast-iron skillet to the oven and broil about 3-4 inches from the heat source until the cheese is melted, about 1-2 minutes.
- Serve the gnocchi mixture topped with the tomatoes and the green onions.
