Ingredients

For the dip:

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter softened, for greasing the dish
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 shallot minced
  • 2 tablespoons chives minced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons parmesan grated, divided
  • 1 (8-ounce) container lump crabmeat drained and shell pieces removed
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 5 buttery crackers finely crushed

For serving:

  • chives to taste, roughly chopped
  • butter crackers to taste
  • baguette to taste, sliced

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Use the butter to grease an 8-inch cast-iron skillet.
  • In a bowl, add the cream cheese, the mayonnaise, the shallots, 2 tablespoons of the chives, the garlic, the lemon juice, the Cajun seasoning, the mustard powder, the Worcestershire sauce, and 1/3 cup of the parmesan and mix to combine.
  • Add the crabmeat to the cream cheese mixture and gently stir until it is just combined, being careful not to break up the large lumps.
  • Season the dip mixture with the salt and the pepper.
  • Scrape the dip into the prepared skillet and sprinkle it with 5 of the crushed crackers and the remaining parmesan.
  • Bake the dip until it is bubbling and golden-brown, about 20-25 minutes.
  • Transfer the skillet to a wire rack and let the dip cool, about 10 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the dip with the remaining chives.
  • Serve the dip with the remaining butter crackers and the baguette slices.
