Ingredients
- 4 cups sweet onions finely chopped
- 1/4 cup butter cubed
- 1/4 cup white wine
- 6 garlic cloves minced
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cups gruyere cheese shredded
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese softened
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- assorted crackers optional, for serving
- fresh vegetables optional, for serving
- chips optional, for serving
Directions
- In a slow cooker, combine the onions, butter, wine, garlic, and bay leaf.
- Cover and cook on high until the onions are tender and golden brown, about 4 hours.
- Remove the bay leaf.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the gruyere cheese, cream cheese, and sour cream.
- Cover and cook until all of the cheese is melted, for about 1 hour.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping snacks.
