Don't you miss the good ole diner days? Those were the best. Well, the good news is you can still get a taste of them with these Diner-Days Sliders! This very low-maintenance bake is a nod to the simpler times when you could slow down and truly enjoy the sweetness of the Hawaiian rolls that nestle around the smoked ham and creamy Swiss cheese. Luckily, these Diner-Days Sliders are so tasty you can't help but take a moment to appreciate everything about them. What a delicious trip down memory lane they provide!

Ingredients

1 (12-count) package Hawaiian sweet rolls
3/4 pound smoked deli ham thinly sliced
8 slices Swiss cheese
3 tablespoons unsalted butter softened, plus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, divided
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 1/2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
kosher salt to taste
freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 teaspoon poppy seeds
fresh herbs of your choice, to taste, chopped, for garnish

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Lightly grease a rimmed baking sheet.
With the rolls still attached, use a serrated knife to cut the whole Hawaiian sweet roll package in half horizontally, then transfer the bottom half onto the prepared baking sheet.
Evenly layer the ham slices and the cheese slices on the bottom half of the rolls.
In a small bowl, add 3 tablespoons of the softened butter, the Dijon mustard, the relish, the salt, and the pepper and stir to combine.
Evenly spread the butter mixture on the cut-side of the top half of the rolls, then return it over the cheese layer, cut-side down to close the sliders.
Evenly brush the tops of the sliders with the remaining melted butter, then evenly sprinkle with the poppy seeds.
Bake the sliders until they are golden-brown and toasted, about 15-18 minutes.
Transfer the baking sheet to a wire rack and let them stand, about 5 minutes.
Serve the sliders garnished with the herbs.
