Ingredients
- olive oil to taste
- 10 bratwurst links
- 1 (12-ounce) bottle beer of your choice, can substitute 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup honey barbecue sauce store-bought or homemade
- 10 brioche hot dog buns split and toasted, for serving
- spicy brown mustard to taste, for serving
Directions
- Preheat the grill to medium.
- In a large bowl, add the oil and the bratwursts and toss to coat.
- Add the bratwursts to the grill. Cover the grill and cook, turning the brats frequently, about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the cooked bratwursts to a 5-quart slow cooker.
- In a second large bowl, add the beer, the ketchup, and the barbecue sauce and stir to combine.
- Pour the sauce over the bratwursts. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat, about 3-4 hours.
- Add 1 of the cooked bratwursts to each of the hot dog buns, reserving the cooking liquids in the slow cooker.
- Evenly drizzle each of the bratwursts with the spicy brown mustard and the cooking liquid from the slow cooker.
- Serve.
