Ingredients

For the filling:

2 (21-ounce) cans apple pie filling
2 tablespoons butter

For the crisp topping:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup butter cold and cubed
1 large egg lightly beaten
vanilla ice cream to taste, for serving

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Grease a 11x7-inch baking dish.
Place the pie filling into the prepared baking dish.
Dot the pie filling with 2 tablespoons of the butter.
In a large bowl, add the flour, the sugar, the baking powder, and the nutmeg and mix to combine.
Cut the remaining cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the egg to the flour mixture and mix just until moistened.
Sprinkle the crisp topping over the pie filling.
Bake the apple crisp, uncovered, until the topping is golden-brown and the filling is bubbly, about 40-45 minutes.
Serve the apple crisp warm with the ice cream.
