Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 (8-ounce) package egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3 ounces cream cheese softened
- 1 large white onion diced
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
- fresh parsley to taste, chopped, for garnish
Directions
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and cook, while crumbling, until the beef is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the excess grease.
- Add the tomato sauce, the sugar, the garlic salt, and the salt to the cooked ground beef, stirring to combine. Simmer until well-blended, about 20 minutes.
- Transfer the tomato sauce mixture in the skillet from the stovetop to a wire rack, covering it and letting it cool to room temperature.
- In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the egg noodles to al dente, according to the package directions, about 7-9 minutes. Drain the noodles.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl with a hand mixer on medium-high speed, add the sour cream, the cream cheese, and the onion and mix until well-combined.
- Evenly layer 1/2 of the cooked egg noodles on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Dollop and carefully spread 1/2 of the sour cream mixture on top of the cooked egg noodle layer.
- Add 1/2 of the tomato sauce mixture on top of the sour cream mixture layer.
- Repeat the layers.
- Evenly sprinkle the sharp cheddar cheese over the top of the last layer of the tomato sauce mixture.
- Bake until the sharp cheddar cheese is melted and golden-brown, about 25-30 minutes.
- Garnish with the parsley and serve.
