Ingredients

For the seasoning:

  • 1/2 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the chicken:

  • 5 pounds chicken drumsticks
  • olive oil to taste

For the sauce:

  • 1 cup raw honey
  • 1/2-3/4 cup barbeque sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1/8 cup soy sauce
  • 2-3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup white onions diced

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine the paprika, the garlic powder, the sugar, the seasoning salt, and the black pepper.
  • Pat the chicken drumsticks dry and place them on a cutting board.
  • Coat the chicken in the olive oil.
  • Season the chicken generously with the prepared seasoning blend.
  • Refrigerate the chicken drumsticks for at least 1 hour.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, add the honey, the barbeque sauce, the teriyaki sauce, the soy sauce, the garlic cloves, and the onions.
  • Bring the sauce to a boil while stirring frequently.
  • Reduce the sauce to a simmer and allow the sauce to thicken for 15 minutes.
  • Remove the chicken drumsticks from the refrigerator and brush each with the teriyaki-barbeque sauce.
  • Preheat the grill to medium heat and grease the grates well. Place chicken drumsticks on the grill grates.
  • Cook the chicken, regularly brushing it with more of the sauce. The chicken should cook for about 15 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees when inserted into the thickest part of the meat.
  • Remove the chicken from the grill, allowing it to rest for 5 minutes, and serve.
