Ingredients
- 4 (1/2-1-inch-thick) pork chops bone-in or boneless
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 6 cloves garlic minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar can substitute white vinegar
Directions
- Preheat the oven broiler to medium-high heat.
- Season the pork chops with the salt, the pepper, and the garlic powder.
- In an ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil.
- Add the pork chops to the hot oil and cook, flipping them once, until they are golden and reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Transfer the chops to a plate.
- Reduce the stovetop heat to medium.
- In the same skillet used for the chops, add the butter and let it melt, while scraping the bottom of the pan to release the browned bits.
- Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook, while stirring, until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add the honey, the water, and the vinegar to the garlic mixture and increase the heat to medium-high.
- Cook the honey mixture, while stirring occasionally, until it reduces and thickens slightly into a sauce, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the chops to the sauce and baste them generously.
- Transfer the skillet to the broiler and broil until the edges of the chops are lightly charred, about 1-2 minutes.
- Serve.
