Ingredients
- 4 tilapia filets
- 1/2 teaspoon salt plus more, to taste, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper plus more, to taste, divided
- 4 tablespoons olive oil divided
- 2 tablespoons honey plus more, to taste, divided
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 teaspoon lime zest plus more, to taste, divided
- 2 cloves garlic crushed
- 1/3 cup whole-wheat pastry flour or all-purpose flour
Directions
- In a 9x13-inch baking dish, season both sides of the tilapia filets with 1/2 teaspoon of the salt and 1/2 teaspoon of the pepper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk 2 tablespoons of the olive oil, the honey, the lime juice, 1 teaspoon of the lime zest, and the garlic together.
- Pour the honey mixture over the tilapia filets, cover the dish, and marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
- In a shallow dish, add the flour and the extra salt, the extra black pepper, and the extra lime zest and mix to combine.
- In a cast-iron skillet or nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, add the remaining olive oil.
- Dredge both sides of the tilapia filets in the flour mixture until lightly coated.
- Add the tilapia filets to the oil and cook until both sides are flaky and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Transfer the tilapia filets to a paper-towel-lined plate and let them drain.
- Serve the filets topped with the extra honey and the extra lime zest.
