Ingredients
For the French toast sticks:
- 5 large eggs
- 2/3 cup whole milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 8 (1-inch-thick) slices focaccia bread
- unsalted butter to taste
Optional, for serving:
- yogurt to taste
- berries to taste, of your choice
- syrup or honey to taste
- whipped cream to taste
Directions
- In a large, shallow bowl, add the eggs, the milk, the vanilla, and the cinnamon and whisk to combine.
- In two batches, place 4 slices of the focaccia in the egg mixture and allow them to soak for 3 minutes.
- Flip the bread slices and soak them in the egg mixture for another 3 minutes.
- In a large, nonstick skillet over medium-low heat, melt the butter.
- Add the soaked bread slices to the melted butter and cook, flipping them once, until they are golden-brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Transfer the French toast to a wire rack.
- Repeat the soaking process with the remaining bread slices, then repeat the cooking process using more of the butter.
- Serve with the yogurt, the berries, the syrup, and the whipped cream.
