Ingredients
- 3/4 pound Italian pork sausage
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes undrained
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 8 ounces penne pasta
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese optional, grated, for garnish
- basil optional, chopped, for garnish
Directions
- In a large skillet heated over medium-high heat, add the sausage and saute until cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. While cooking the sausage, use a wooden spoon to break it apart.
- Transfer the cooked sausage to paper towels on a plate to drain.
- In the same skillet, mix together the water, undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, and pasta.
- Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once boiling, cover with a lid and reduce the heat to low.
- Cook until the pasta is tender, about 15 minutes.
- Add the sausage and toss to coat.
- Garnish with parmesan cheese and basil and serve!
