Ingredients
- 8 ounces pasta
- 6 ounces bacon
- 1 small onion
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1/4 cup parmesan grated
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper optional
Directions
- Bring a pot of water to a boil.
- Add the pasta to the boiling water and cook until the pasta is tender, for about 7-10 minutes.
- Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water.
- Drain the remaining pasta water.
- Add the bacon to a large skillet and cook over medium heat until brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
- Transfer the bacon to a paper-towel-lined plate with a slotted spoon.
- Crumble the bacon.
- Drain most of the grease from the skillet, reserving about 2 tablespoons.
- Finely dice the onion.
- Add the diced onion to the reserved bacon grease and sauté over medium heat until tender, about 5 minutes.
- Add the frozen peas and 1/4 cup of the reserved pasta water to the skillet.
- Cook until the peas have heated through.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet, stirring to combine.
- Remove the skillet from the heat.
- Top the pasta with the parmesan, salt, pepper, red pepper, and crumbled bacon, stirring to combine.
- Taste for seasoning and serve.
