Ingredients
- 4 slices bacon uncooked and sliced into small pieces
- 1 cup white onion chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1 pound green beans stems removed
- 1/2 teaspoon creole seasoning
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
Directions
- Heat a large pot or Dutch oven on medium-high heat.
- Add in the bacon and cook until the bacon crisps, about 3-4 minutes.
- Drain most of the excess fat from the pot, reserving 1 teaspoon at the bottom.
- Add in the onions and garlic to the reserved fat and cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
- Add in the chicken broth, and deglaze the pot with a wooden spatula, scraping up the bits of cooked bacon.
- Add in the green beans, creole seasoning, salt, and pepper, and stir.
- Reduce the heat to low.
- Cover and cook until the green beans are tender, about 1 hour-1 hour 30 minutes.
- Taste for seasoning, and serve.
