Ingredients
- 4 slices Texas toast frozen
- 1 pound ground beef lean
- 1/4 cup onions chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 2 teaspoons tomato paste
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
- 1 ounce cheddar cheese shredded
Directions
- Preheat the oven according to the package directions for the Texas toast.
- In a pan, over medium heat, cook the ground beef and the onions, while crumbling the meat, until the beef is no longer pink, for about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain the grease from the pan.
- Add the garlic powder, the ketchup, the tomato paste, the Worcestershire sauce, the brown sugar, the salt, and the pepper to the meat mixture. Stir well to combine.
- Cook the meat mixture until it has thickened.
- While the meat mixture is thickening, place the Texas toast in the oven on a baking sheet. Bake according to the package directions.
- Divide the toast among four plates, top with the meat mixture, and sprinkle each with 1/4-ounce cheese.
- Serve.
