Ingredients
- 1 pound bulk spicy pork sausage
- 1 1/2 cups sauerkraut rinsed and well drained
- 2 medium green and/or sweet yellow peppers chopped
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 8 pretzel or regular hamburger buns split
- 8 slices provolone cheese
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink, about 4-6 minutes. Drain the excess grease.
- Add the sauerkraut, the peppers, and the onion to the sausage mixture and cook and stir until the veggies are tender, about 8-10 minutes.
- Spoon the meat mixture onto the bun bottoms.
- Place the cheese over the meat-topped buns.
- Cover the cheese-covered meat with the tops of the buns.
- Place the meat-topped buns on a baking sheet and bake until the cheese is melted, about 4-6 minutes.
- Serve.
