Ingredients
- 4 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup quick-cooking grits uncooked
- 1 large egg lightly beaten
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese grated
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Lightly grease a 7x11-inch baking dish.
- In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, bring the milk to just a boil.
- Gradually whisk the butter and the grits into the milk.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer, whisking constantly, until the grits are done, about 5-7 minutes.
- Transfer the saucepan from the heat.
- Stir the eggs, the cheddar cheese, the salt, and the pepper into the grits.
- Pour the grits mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the top of the grits with the parmesan.
- Bake until set, about 35-40 minutes.
