Ingredients
- 8 medium tart apples such as Granny Smith, peeled and sliced
- 1/3 cup brown sugar packed
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 (17.9-ounce) package snickerdoodle cookie mix plus its cinnamon-sugar packet such as Betty Crocker™ Snickerdoodle Cookie Mix
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- 1 cup pecans coarsely chopped
- whipped cream optional, to taste, for serving
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease an 11x7-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, add the apple slices, the brown sugar, the sugar, the orange juice, and the lemon juice and toss to combine.
- Evenly spread the coated apples into the prepared baking dish.
- In a second large bowl, add the cookie mix, then stir in the cinnamon-sugar packet.
- Evenly sprinkle the cookie mixture over the coated apples, then evenly drizzle with the melted butter.
- Evenly sprinkle the dump cake with the pecans.
- Bake the dump cake until the top is golden-brown and the apples are tender, about 30-40 minutes.
- Serve the dump cake topped with the whipped cream.
