Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter melted, plus more, to taste, for greasing the dish
- 3 medium ripe bananas
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips plus more, to taste
- 1 cup walnuts chopped, plus more, to taste
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Using the extra butter, grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas.
- Add the eggs, the brown sugar, and the remaining 1/2 cup of the melted butter to the mashed bananas and whisk well to combine.
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the flour, the baking soda, the cinnamon, and the salt.
- Gently fold the flour mixture into the banana mixture.
- When only a few streaks of the flour mixture remain, add 1 cup of the chocolate chips and 1 cup of the walnuts, folding them into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and then top it with the extra chocolate chips and the extra walnuts.
- Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour 5 minutes-1 hour 15 minutes. Check the loaf after 45 minutes and if it is browning too quickly, cover the top loosely with foil.
- Remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool for 15 minutes in the pan.
- Invert the pan to remove the bread and let it finish cooling on a cooling rack.
- Slice the banana bread and serve.
