Ingredients
For the pear filling:
- butter to taste, for greasing the baking dish
- 5 large pears peeled and diced
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the pecan topping:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar firmly packed
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup pecans very finely chopped
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- vanilla ice cream to taste, for serving
Directions
- Adjust a rack to the center position in the oven, then preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Use the extra butter to grease a 10.5x12.5-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, add the pears, 2/3 cup of the granulated sugar, and the salt and stir to combine.
- In a second large bowl, add the flour, the remaining granulated sugar, the brown sugar, the cinnamon, and the pecans and stir to combine.
- Drizzle the remaining 1/2 cup of melted butter into the flour mixture, while gradually stirring with a fork, until it is well-combined.
- Place the pear mixture in the prepared baking dish and evenly sprinkle with the pecan mixture.
- Bake the pear crisp on the center rack, about 30 minutes.
- Move the baking dish to the top rack and bake the pear crisp until the topping is golden-brown, about 10 minutes.
- Serve the pear crisp warm with the ice cream.
