Ingredients

  • olive oil to taste
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 cup yellow onion diced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 8 hamburger buns
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella and cheddar cheese shredded

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Add olive oil to a frying pan, then add the ground beef and sauté until the meat is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. While the beef cooks, add the diced onions to the same pan. Drain the excess grease.
  • Pour the ketchup, the Worcestershire sauce, the brown sugar, and the onion powder into a medium mixing bowl. Stir well.
  • Add the ketchup mixture to the pan with the ground beef and stir until all of the meat is coated in the sauce.
  • Place the hamburger buns in muffin tins, pressing them down gently to form cups.
  • Spoon the ground beef mixture into the cups.
  • Sprinkle the cheese on top of the ground beef mixture.
  • Bake the cups until the cheese is completely melted, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Transfer the muffin tins from the oven and carefully lift the Sloppy Cups out of the pan.
  • Serve.
