Ingredients
- 8 ounces egg noodles
- 1 1/4 pounds ground chuck
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- black pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 1/4 cups small curd cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup green onions sliced
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese grated
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the egg noodles to al dente, according to the package directions. Drain.
- While the noodles are cooking, in a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground chuck, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the excess grease.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low, add the tomato sauce, the salt, and the black pepper to the ground chuck and simmer, stirring occasionally, until it is heated through.
- In a large bowl, add the sour cream and the cottage cheese and mix well.
- Add the black pepper to the sour cream mixture and mix well.
- Add the cooked noodles to the sour cream mixture and mix well.
- Add the green onions to the noodle mixture and mix well.
- Pour 1/2 of the noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Evenly layer 1/2 of the ground chuck mixture on top of the noodle layer.
- Evenly sprinkle 1/2 of the cheddar cheese on top of the meat layer.
- Repeat the noodle layer, the meat layer, and the cheddar cheese layer once.
- Bake the noodle mixture until the cheese has melted, about 20 minutes.
- Let the bake rest.
- Plate and serve.
