Ingredients
For the cake:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
For the streusel:
- 1 cup walnuts optional, chopped
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, add the eggs, sugar, butter, and vanilla.
- Beat the wet ingredient mixture until it begins to come together.
- Add the dry ingredients. Mix until just moist.
- Add the sour cream. Mix until smooth but be careful not to overmix.
- In a bowl, mix together the walnuts, the brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla.
- Spray a 10-inch tube pan with baking spray.
- Spoon 1/2 the batter into the bottom of the pan, spreading it until even.
- Sprinkle it with about 1/2 of the streusel.
- Add another layer of batter and another layer of streusel to the tube pan.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes.
- Cool completely before serving.
